Client: The Clorox Company
The Context & Challenge:
  • The Clorox Company has made bold commitments to meet its sustainability targets, including reducing virgin plastic and fiber packaging by 50% and reducing Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and to achieve 100% recyclable, reusable, or compostable packaging by 2025.
  • To help them meet these ambitious goals, Ubuntoo supported The Clorox Company’s development towards a circular business model by collaborating with Clorox’s business units –  Burt’s Bees, Cleaning, and Glad to implement sustainable packaging and product formulations.
The Deliverable:
  • Ubuntoo provided solutions for reusable, refillable, and sustainable packaging materials- all within a customized and curated platform. Specifically, our work has presented over 445 solutions to the Burt’s Bees & VMS business unit related to sustainable cosmetics, packaging, formulations, and green chemistry. Ubuntoo additionally sourced over 334 innovative solutions for The Clorox Company’s Cleaning business unit, relating to packaging and eco-friendly chemical household products including detergents, concentrated tablets, surfactants, and refillable vending solutions.
  • Through our work with The Clorox Company’s Glad division, Ubuntoo sourced over 253 additional solutions related to packaging, trash bag innovations, flexible films, and biodegradable alternatives to plastics.
The Result:
  • The comprehensive and carefully curated databases of solutions, knowledge, news, and events from all three projects have played a pivotal role in advancing The Clorox Company’s sustainability efforts. Thanks to the efforts of the client, and support provided by Ubuntoo, Clorox has been recognized as the “Most Sustainable U.S. Company” in 2023 by Barron.
  • The Clorox Company is now 85% of the way to achieving its goal of 100% recyclable, reusable, or compostable packaging by 2025. They’ve also been able to reduce their absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% by 2023, several years ahead of schedule. Our contribution has been to deliver tangible solutions and enable the integration of circularity within the company’s core business strategy.
