Launched in February 2019, Truman's is offering concentrated cleaning products for glass, floors, bathrooms, and all-purpose, shipped in small recyclable plastic refill cartridges that fit in the neck of its reusable plastic spray bottles.
Shopping for cleaning products can be onerous and confusing. And the time is ripe for a low-plastic, just-add-water revolution.
Fed up with the clutter of cleaning, Truman’s partnered with an industry-leading manufacturer to create four non-toxic cleaners for the entire home: Floors Truly, Everything and the Kitchen Sink, More Shower to You and The Glass Is Always Cleaner.
Using a patented concentrate and cartridge system that can be shipped directly to customers, Truman’s cleaners provide a more sustainable and efficient experience than traditional cleaners, which are packaged in single-use plastics and shipped as solutions that are 98% water. Once the consumer purchases the starter pack, all they have to do is fill the bottle with water and pop in a cartridge. When the bottle is empty, the fully recyclable cartridge is swapped out for a new one and the bottle refilled.
Truman’s has been growing rapidly in its first months of existence and has been featured in several media, including Forbes.com, Inhabitat.com and Trends Live. The startup also got recognized by Fast Company.
The products can be ordered directly through their website and the company is also planning to expend its distribution abroad.
The startup raised $5 million from an investor group led by Henkel to establish its headquarters in Louisville.
