LignoPure is a start-up initiative of the Hamburg University of Technology - A multidisciplinary team with expertise in process engineering, product development & business administration. Lignopure produces natural degradable biopolymers from non-food sources. Their LignoPure product is the best-of-its-kind lignin, which is proven non-cytotoxicity and has added functionality.
Currently available technical lignins are tackling low value markets since they are chemically altered and often sulfur-contaminated.
Lignin is a natural component of lignocellulose derived from agricultural & forestry residues. Besides Cellulose, lignin is the second most abundant plant polymer. Lignin is the natural glue that holds wood fibers together. It is renewable and abundant and some of it is already being sold by pulp mills. Lignin can be used in a wide range of applications, ranging from fuels to advanced chemicals and materials. Lignin is non-food renewable resource, non-GMO, sustainable eco-friendly and vegan & gluten-free.
LignoPure lignin is biobased functionality. It is a natural antioxidant, food supplement & pharmaceutical excipient, raw material for insulation materials, 3D-printed polymer. LignoPure lignin with its purity and particle properties is best of its kind. Thus, in addition to common products such as bioplastics or adhesives, it can primarily open up new markets and integrate the advantages of the biopolymer lignin into high-priced consumer goods such as food, personal care and pharmaceutical products.
LignoPure lignin is non-toxic and natural, thermally stable, a natural antioxidant and suitable as food supplement & excipient.
LignoPure won Hamburg Start-up Award at the beginning of May 2019 and 2nd place of the future Hamburg award 2019.
