"Le Pavé" was founded in 2017 by Marius Hamelot and aims to build sustainably with beauty and quality while emptying our oceans and nature of plastic waste. The startup uses waste plastic to create a mineral material filled with value in movable and real estate projects.
Over 300 million tons of plastic waste is produced every year and according to the Plastic Europe Foundation, only 25% of this is recycled. However, the plastic that is recycled is mainly used to produce goods that are then consumed daily, lasting 2 to 3 years and in most cases, go back into nature. Moreover, during the recycling process, the plastic is mixed with other products, making it even more difficult, if not impossible, to use it again.
With "Le pavé", Marius and its team are trying to develop new alternatives using the physical properties of plastic, they are re-shaping it into sustainable sturdy tiles that have multiple applications. As with wood, the tiles can be cut, thermo-shaped and you can sand it. The use as flooring is still in the development stage, and for now the team recommends this material for working plans, furniture, objects, door handle, coverings and more.
In "Le pavé", the upcycled plastic is made in such a way that it resembles marble. This provides an attractive design and prevents the incorporation of toxic chemicals from paints, making the tiles themselves recyclable as well.
The company offers an effective ecological construction tool with infinite shapes and colors for architects, designers, scenographers and craftsmen. To maximize their ecological and social impact, their plastic is guaranteed under the label Waste & Hope and is mostly collected directly from nature and from areas near the oceans.
The material is 100% recycled, 100% recyclable and infinitely customizable. It has a high resistance level making it effective for use in eco-construction.
It is ranked A+ in terms of volatile organic compounds (VOC). At the fire level, it is classified Efl.
So far the product is available for delivery throughout France.
