Evrythng is an Internet of Things SaaS platform for consumer product brands, combining trusted information with real-time intelligence for billions of things. With this system, each individual product can tell its story to businesses and to consumers throughout its product life cycle.
Too often, people throw non-recyclable items in the recyclable bin, because they don't know how to recycle. These mistakes impact the whole waste management system and generate difficulties for the recyclers to properly sort out the waste they receive.
There are over 4-trillion consumer product items produced globally every year. Evrythng puts a tag on each product. Scanning the tag provides you with data from and about each of these products which has a huge value to consumers, brand owners, manufacturers and supply chain service providers. Each item has a unique story to tell — what it's made of, where it is right now, who has it and who’s using it, its authenticity, its state of well-being and how it was made.
The system works as follow:
- The receipts are scanned by the customers which helps to import the purchased items to mobile app.
- Through the mobile app, consumers can review information on where, when and how to recycle the different parts of each item.
- Consumers can then recycle items in street bins or preferred recycling centers. The program also provides product information on what is being recycled back to the recycling firm.
Consumers can also earn rewards by registering where they are recycling and scanning or tapping identity tags on recycling units. It is essential to reward the consumers which in turn makes them responsible about their contribution.
Their first app Reciclaya allows customers to determine how to recycle individual products. It separates products into virtual recycling bins so that customers can then place them into the closest corresponding containers.
They have received various awards for their innovative technology, some of which include:
- Edison Awards- 2016 Nominee
- Bloomberg Business Innovators -2016
Just one year after its incorporation, EVRYTHNG partnered with IBM and the World Wide Web Consortium as part of the EU COMPOSE project to create an open technical framework for IoT services. The company launched a recycling program at Carrefour supermarkets in Spain, in October 2018, working with their partner Recycl3R.
