Smile Coffee Werks has created plant-based compostable coffee pods. 

The Connecticut based company released plant based compostable coffee cups that have a shelf life of twelve months. They are created using renewable raw materials with a patented technology, resulting in the creation of a BPA-free cup and top that are compatible with Nespresso® classic style coffee makers.

With beans primarily sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified Farms, the manufacturing process involves the use of solar, wind, and hydropower and the packaging cartons are made from recycled materials. Moreover, the company is taking active steps towards a climate neutral production process, and is certified climate neutral by ClimatePartner. The pods and products are also certified USDA Biobased products and commercially compostable by BPI.
