Cultivated beef production is projected to reduce climate impact by 92%, air pollution by 93%, use 95% less land and 78% less water when compared to industrial beef production (CE Delft).
The automated process through which cultivated meat is produced, and the sterile environment of its manufacturing, will eliminate the use of antibiotics and significantly reduce the risk for pathogens or contaminants.
Cultivated meat production requires a fraction of the time compared to conventional meat production and eliminates the need to use antibiotics. It reduces the timeline between farm to fork and offers flexibility for the meat sector to better adapt to market needs, especially in times of crisis like COVID-19.
Aleph Farms signed a deal to have Mitsubishi Corp.'s Food Industry Group bring cultivated meat to Japan. Aleph Farms will provide its BioFarm manufacturing platform for cultivation of whole-muscle steaks, while Mitsubishi will provide its expertise in biotechnology processes, branded food manufacturing and local distribution channels in Japan. Environmental activist and Academy Award-winning actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, has joined Aleph Farms as an investor and a member of the company Sustainability Board.
The company is committed to carbon-neutrality in 2025 in its operations (scope 1 and 2) and throughout the entire supply chain by 2030 (scope 1, 2 and 3).
