Packaging That Inactivates Viruses
Anti-viral packaging is needed to protect employees in the distribution system and consumers from contact with COVID-19 and other harmful viruses (e.g., norovirus).
Packaging Technology and Research has hosted an open discussion on April 21 on Antiviral Packaging, during which solutions available today were discussed. The discussion included antiviral packaging options, such as systems solutions, edible coatings on food, compounds in and bonded to the outer packaging surface, as well as an adaptation of medical packaging procedures to the food industry.
