How Sweden is Turning Its Waste into Gold


Every year, Sweden produces just 4.4 tons of waste and only 1% of it goes into a landfill. How is Sweden so drastically better at waste management than other countries?  What are the creative changes and innovations employed by Sweden that aren't being implemented elsewhere?  From second-hand malls to sorting bins for recycling throughout the city, it seems Sweden has an interesting way of managing waste. Furthermore, Sweden wants to kick it up a notch by turning its waste into energy and sending 0% of its waste into the landfill three years from now. Is it possible for them to become zero waste?
