Handbook on Leveraging Corporate Social Responsibility to Support Start Ups and Social Entrepreneurs
In India, GIZ works with its partners in the areas of energy, environment and natural resources, sustainable urban development, and sustainable economic development. Together with Bosch and Intellecap, GIZ has started an initiative to promote collaboration between corporates, intermediaries (particularly incubators) and small and growing businesses (including start-ups and social enterprises). With the growing focus of the Indian Government on promoting start-ups, this initiative intends to explore additional ways in which corporations could engage with start-ups and social enterprises. In this regard, GIZ would like to assess the feasibility of setting up a fund that receives contributions from corporates which will subsequently be invested by the fund in start-ups and social enterprises, directly or through intermediaries. GIZ, therefore, partnered with KPMG India to analyze whether contributions received by such a fund from various corporates would qualify under Corporate Social Responsibility (‘CSR’) regulations in 2014.
