plastic traces in the soil | EP 6 | podcast

Anja Krieger and Plastisphere dig deeper into the soil to discover what happens to plastics breaking down into the soil.  Why worry about the soil?  Our soils are the bases of everything we use on a day to day basis.  Anja challenges the thinking of how the plants we grow in the soil, to the food we consume from those plants are going to be affected by decomposing plastics found everywhere.  What harm could this bring to us?  At what particle size can plastic become harmful?  Are there scientists out there researching this?

Anja talks to a wide range of guests on this podcast to gain perspective on our soils, an artist, Saša Spačal from Slovenia, soil biologist Matthias Rillig from Germany, Brazilian environmental scientist Abel Machado and geologist Reinhold Leinfelder.  What this group of experts and artists begin to find is a chilling concept.  The vast solutions and concepts out there to change our ways begin to sound like the right way to move.
