There are a number of new brands of eco-friendly products out there, many with labels we are unsure of what they really mean. Are some of those terms just there to confuse us into purchasing a product we believe is better but really isn't? Plastics can be created out of starches, fuel, corn, and 100s of other biobased products, and each will break down differently. What is PLA? What is PET? How do these plastics break down? If a plastic cup says compostable does this mean you can compost it in your back yard? Can these no. 7 plastics be recycled?
